The Province’s nine in-market Trade and Investment Representatives, who work in China, Japan, Korea ,India, the European Union, and the United States are travelling across B.C. to meet with and listen to businesses, economic development officers, chambers of commerce, municipalities and other stakeholders. The representatives with outline their services, offer advice on building networks in foreign markets, and meet one-on-one with as many companies as time allows. Working with local economic development entities, the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation will deliver a series of one-day trade and investment programs in the following communities: Penticton, Vernon, Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George, the Comox Valley, Nanaimo, and Victoria.
As part of the Province’s overarching economic strategy to strengthen and engage rural and regional economies, the decision was made to actively reach-out to communities and businesses beyond the Lower Mainland. This is the first time the Province has sent all its trade representatives into the regions to work with companies, regional economic development agencies and communities.
