British Columbia’s aerospace sector is coming together in Abbotsford, British Columbia to attend the Aerospace Defence and Security Expo from August 11-12, 2016. In its sixth year, the expo is organized by the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada – Pacific Division (AIACP) and welcomes international aerospace companies as well as key players in the local aerospace industry.

The event coincides with the Abbotsford International Airshow, an annual summer tradition for over 40 years.

The expo includes forums, tradeshow and networking opportunities with industry leaders such as Lockheed Martin and Airbus. This year’s event also featured the announcement of Boeing Vancouver’s  new office in downtown Vancouver, focused on data analytics-driven software solutions. The downtown location complements the company’s facilities in Richmond, B.C., which employs more than 200 highly skilled software engineers and data scientists.

British Columbia’s aerospace sector is globally recognized for its excellence in delivering highly specialized products and services. The sector is supported by a network of post-secondary institutions that provide a deep pool of skilled workers for the international and local companies, such as Cascade Aerospace and Heli-One, that have established their presence in the province.

British Columbia has also become a major hub for the Pacific Northwest and Canada’s growing aerospace industry, given Vancouver’s close proximity to Seattle, Washington, home of Boeing’s final assembly and integration production lines.
