Seaspan Unveils First Ship from National Shipbuilding Project

Earlier this month, B.C.-based Seaspan unveiled their first Canadian Coast Guard Ship, built under the federal government’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, putting a spotlight on the growing local marine manufacturing and maintenance industry.  The newly-built ship is the first of three 63-metre offshore-fisheries science vessels to be deployed off Canada’s west and east coast. In December, Seaspan expects the ship to be launched to Vancouver Island for final interior construction at the company’s Victoria Shipyards, prior to testing and sea trials. British Columbia and India Strengthen Partnership

The second annual B.C.-India Partnership Summit brought over 150 government and private sector stakeholders together to discuss collaborative opportunities in digital media and entertainment. Hosted by the Canada-India Business Council, in collaboration with Creative BC, the Asia Pacific Foundation, and the B.C. Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology, the event was a resounding success and resulted in stronger professional relationships between India and British Columbia.
