Discover the World of FinTech at the Singapore FinTech Festival

Trade and Invest BC and four B.C. companies will be attending the Singapore FinTech Festival, the largest financial technology event in the world. It is organized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore in partnership with the Association of Banks in Singapore. It runs from November 12 to 16, 2018, and is expected to attract over 30,000 participants, decision makers and investors, with over 300 exhibiting companies from approximately 100 countries. This key industry event promotes discussions on emerging themes in the sector, such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in finance, and showcases the latest financial services technologies.
Trade and Invest BC has been working with the Ontario and Quebec provincial governments and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) to organize business programs during the festival, including a Canadian pavilion, Canada networking reception and Canada FinTech forum.
The four B.C. companies attending the festival include:
Yodopay is a financial technology company based in Victoria that has created a downloadable mobile payment system that converts cash into electronic funds. For security, it uses public-key encryption and tri-factor authentication, including facial recognition. There are no user-fees or charges to make purchases using Yodo; the company is targeting businesses with its personalized mobile ads and competitive transaction costs. Its aim is to replace credit and debit cards as a new form of payment that is both convenient and secure.
iComply Investor Services Inc., a Vancouver company, is a regulation platform that automates compliance procedures for the issuance, purchase and resale of tokens, coins and digitized assets. It uses blockchain technology to keep track of the trading of virtual coins. iComplyICO also assists with initial coin offerings (ICOs) so that these digitized assets can be securely utilized as efficient financial instruments. The company also provides compliance checks to streamline legal and accounting processes.
Kashoo is a cloud accounting software solution that is designed for the small business owner. Its office in Vancouver has a team of twenty people and the app is now one of the most popular online account apps in the world, with subscribers in over 180 countries. Competing with traditional bookkeeping software programs, Kashoo has found a niche that focuses on simple and easy to use mobile features for entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Katipult offers cloud-based software infrastructure that allows businesses to design, set up and operate their own investment platform. It is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The company’s mission is to automate administrative tasks that involve paper-based processes and phone calls. Katipult has a head office in Vancouver and a team based in the Kamloops Innovation Centre, and has been recognized by the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce as a technology innovator.
