Spring and summer signals the start of harvesting for many of British Columbia’s (B.C.) signature fruits. Orchards and berry fields across the province are preparing for a strong export season. For international buyers, this is an ideal time to secure premium fruit from one of Canada’s most productive growing regions.
B.C. is Canada’s third largest fruit producing province. Its diverse climate supports berries, grapes and tree fruits across more than 26,000 hectares of farmland. The province grows most of Canada’s cherries. It is also the country’s leading producer of highbush blueberries, with nearly all production located in B.C.
Buyers can also source apples, cranberries, peaches, pears, plums, nectarines and more. This range gives importers a dependable and varied supply of seasonal fruits. B.C growers and packinghouses follow strict food safety and traceability standards. Inspections in orchards and packing facilities help ensure consistent sugars, firmness, colour and flavour. These practices support strong demand in markets that value reliable quality.
It’s not surprising to see interest in B.C. fruit rising across Europe, India, Korea, the Middle East and ASEAN countries like Vietnam. Apples, blueberries and cherries are among the most requested fruits. Many other markets show similar patterns.
B.C. fruit exports to more than 40 countries. Key destinations include United States, China, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Asia, Europe and the Middle East remain the largest regions for export growth.

“We are seeing a strong interest in B.C. blueberries and cherries in Europe, India, Korea, the Middle East and Vietnam.” Ricky Chong, Director of Business Development, World Fresh Exports Inc.
Trade events organized by TIBC have reinforced this momentum. Asia Fruit Logistica 2025 showed strong buyer interest from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, India, Taiwan and Malaysia, with cherries, blueberries, and apples consistently in demand. China and Hong Kong focused on high-volume premium supply and distribution, Japan and Taiwan emphasized strict quality and long-term relationships, while Vietnam, Malaysia and India showed fast-growing, price-sensitive demand with interest in scalable supply programs. Across all markets, buyers prioritized reliable cold-chain logistics, food safety and consistent supply, with B.C. cherries and blueberries standing out as the strongest opportunities. It’s not surprising that B.C. companies that participated in the show expect sales in the range of $3–5M CAD.

Vietnam is emerging as a major growth market for B.C. fruit. Exporters, like World Fresh Exports Inc. make several trips to this region each year and plan to expand sales of B.C. apples, blueberries and cherries into second and third tier cities by working with supermarket chains such as BRG and with local importers.
The European Union is another priority for the agricultural sector. Canada’s ability to meet European Union’s Maximum Residue Levels (MRL) standards for pesticides gives B.C. exporters a competitive advantage. Counter seasonal supply and favourable air freight costs also support growth in the region.
Global supply chains face ongoing challenges. Weather events, transit delays, port congestion and truck shortages can disrupt shipments. B.C. exporters have developed strong logistics capabilities to manage these risks. Shipments move by air, sea and truck to ensure timely arrival. British Columbia connects the Asia-Pacific region with North America, providing easy, fast and reliable access to world markets. Quality control teams provide photos, reports and updates to buyers to maintain transparency and trust.
With harvest underway and demand rising, B.C. fruit is well positioned for a successful season. The province offers a dependable supply of high-quality cherries, blueberries, apples and other fruits. For international buyers seeking safe, flavourful and well managed products, B.C. continues to deliver strong opportunity.
