Web Summit Vancouver 2026 brought thousands of people from around the world to British Columbia, further establishing the province as a destination for technology investment, innovation and international collaboration.
Building on the strong foundation built in 2025, the 2026 event drew more than 20,000 attendees and hundreds of global investors . It was a high-impact environment for companies and decision-makers to connect, explore partnerships and advance business opportunities.
While the conference itself offered strong visibility, many of the most valuable connections happened through events organized around it.
Trade and Invest BC focused on helping international delegates turn their visit into real business opportunities through additional designed programming to help delegates make the most of their time in Vancouver.

Large conferences offer significant value but can also be challenging to navigate. With so many sessions, meetings and events taking place at once, it can be difficult for delegates to make the most of their time.
While the conference floor created energy and visibility, Trade and Invest BC focused on creating meaningful opportunities for global participants to connect and explore business partnerships.
To help delegates get the greatest value from the event, Trade and Invest BC alongside other Government partners began business hosting programming on Monday, May 11, before Web Summit Vancouver officially opened. This gave delegates additional time to build relationships and attend targeted business events alongside the conference.
Through curated programming and on-the-ground support, Trade and Invest BC helped international investors, companies and partners:
The week started with the Kick-Off to Web Summit Vancouver Networking Reception, a by-invite event hosted by Trade and Invest BC, Lawson Lundell, MNP and Remitly, with support from InBC, Invest Vancouver and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).
This event welcomed approximately 350 people, including international delegates, investors, companies and partners. Delegates came from many regions, including the United States, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, India and Europe. Trade and Invest BC’s global network helped bring together a mix of investors and buyers, depending on each market’s strengths.

The event included remarks from the Minister of Jobs and Economic Growth, Honourable Ravi Kahlon, and served as a formal welcome to British Columbia. It also showed how much the event has grown. Following the success of a delegation reception in 2025, all Trade and Investment Representative (TIR)-led delegations were brought together in a large single global reception in 2026. Participants, particularly investors, valued the networking opportunities and the chance to connect international delegates recruited by B.C.’s TIRs with key B.C. technology ecosystem stakeholders at one event.
On Tuesday, Trade and Invest BC hosted an Investor Networking Event at the B.C. Pavilion.
This session focused on testimonials and sharing real experiences by companies that have already expanded into British Columbia.
The Deputy Premier and Attorney General of British Columbia, Honourable Niki Sharma, opened the event. After that, the discussion was informal and practical. Instead of presentations, companies shared their real-life stories and answered questions.
They talked about:
Several successful companies from the United States and Asia were showcased at the event, sharing how they established and grew their presence in British Columbia.

The B.C. Pavilion once again served as the central hub on the Web Summit show floor, advancing the Province’s Look West Strategy by showcasing British Columbia’s innovation strengths and creating opportunities for meaningful business connections.
The Pavilion highlighted key priority sectors, including Creative Tech, AI and Quantum, Clean Energy, Life Sciences, Agritech, and Ocean Tech, and created opportunities for meaningful engagement between B.C. companies and global investors, buyers, and partners.
Through presentations, investor showcases, pitch competitions and sector panel discussions, the Pavilion brought together B.C. companies and international investors, buyers and partners throughout the event.
The B.C. Pavilion also showcased 72 start up level companies from these sectors who through Innovate BC’s Road to Web Summit Vancouver program.
Trade and Invest BC helped international delegates connect with the right people through introductions, guided meetings and follow-up support for investment and business expansion.

The B.C. Regional Showcase and Networking Breakfast gave international delegates a broader view of the province.
Representatives from regions across British Columbia took part, including Vancouver Island, the Kootenays, the Okanagan, Northern B.C., the Cariboo, Fraser Valley, Sea-to-Sky and Metro Vancouver.
Each region had the chance to explain what they offer and why companies should consider setting up in their region.
The event helped show that opportunities are not limited to Metro Vancouver, which received significant profile during the Web Summit, but instead are spread across the province. It also highlighted Indigenous partnerships and regions connected to natural resource industries and emerging technology.
For many international delegates, this was their first introduction to the full range of opportunities across the province.

Trade and Invest BC worked closely with partners to provide even more ways for delegates to connect and learn.
These included:
These events gave delegates multiple ways to move forward, whether they were exploring the market, looking to invest or ready to expand.
Web Summit Vancouver 2026 attracted record attendance and investor participation, reflecting growing global interest in British Columbia’s technology ecosystem.
Building on the success of the inaugural event in 2025, the conference reinforced B.C.’s position as a gateway to North American innovation and a destination for partnerships across high-growth technology sectors.
With more than 12,000 technology companies and strengths in artificial intelligence, life sciences, clean technology and digital industries, B.C. continues to offer international businesses a collaborative innovation ecosystem, access to global markets and strong commercialization opportunities.

A key differentiator at Web Summit was the seamless integration of a rich offering of programming hosted by a coalition of government partners programming alongside the main conference. Trade and Invest BC helped transform interest into action by connecting international delegates with B.C. companies, investors, sector experts and regional partners, while providing market insights and support for businesses exploring expansion opportunities in the province. These conversations will continue beyond the conference as Trade and Invest BC supports companies and investors pursuing new projects, trade opportunities and investment in British Columbia.
Following the global attention generated by both Web Summit Vancouver and FIFA World Cup 2026 ™, British Columbia is building lasting economic momentum. By connecting international businesses with the province’s innovation ecosystem and focusing on practical business outcomes, B.C. is strengthening its position as a place where global companies can connect, invest and grow.
As interest in B.C.’s innovation ecosystem continues to increase, Trade and Invest BC remains a key partner for companies and investors looking to engage with the province. We look forward to building on this momentum and welcoming delegates back to Vancouver for Web Summit 2027.
