- In March 2025, China’s Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced retaliatory tariffs on several Canadian agricultural exports, including a 100% tariff on canola oil, peas, and oilcakes, and a 25% tariff on aquatic products and pork, following an “anti-discrimination probe”.
- China possesses four sovereign wealth funds with total assets of $2.93 trillion, including SAFE Investment Company, China Investment Corporation (CIC), China-Africa Development Fund (CADF), and the Hong Kong Investment Corporation Limited (HKIC).
