So in a matter of minutes, you can travel from city shopping plazas into the thick of the Alberni Valley wilderness with surging rivers and a rain forest of giant trees towering more than 61 m (200ft). The Port Alberni area includes the municipality of Port Alberni, the rural Electoral Areas B, D, E and F of the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, and multiple Indian Reserves. It is equivalent to Statistics Canada's Port Alberni Census Agglomeration. As of the 2006 Census, this area no longer includes Area B of Alberni-Clayoquot RD; it now includes Area A.
