Nano-Lit Technologies

Nano-Lit Technologies has embraced the importance of natural light in health and wellbeing, by developing quantum dot LED lighting fixtures with technology that mimics the highly saturated colours of sunlight. Nano-Lit delivers sunlight on demand by emulating the sun from sunrise to sunset indoors.

Based in British Columbia since 2017, Nano-Lit focuses on the connection between dynamic light, circadian rhythms, and sleep. Sunlight is dynamic: its angle, intensity, and colour continuously change throughout the day. It is known that light is the most important stimulus controlling human circadian rhythms, as humans evolved under the changing wavelengths of the sun. Circadian rhythms guide human sleep cycles, hormone release, and every process in the body. Circadian lighting plays a crucial role in providing the right light at the right time and weakening the wrong light at the wrong time.

Nano-Lit’s Smart DiffuserTM light bars are preprogrammed to a specific light recipe and can be retrofitted into existing light fixtures. Studies show that using dynamic circadian lighting increases productivity, improve energy, mood and increases mental wellness.

B.C.’s trade and investment representatives in the United Kingdom and staff in B.C. helped Nano-Lit set up a subsidiary in British Columbia. This included introductions, recommending events to promote and grow their business. Soon after beginning operations in British Columbia, Nano-Lit’s fixtures were installed through The Green and Digital Development Program at Vancouver’s City Hall. Following this, Nano-Lit’s first product, the Smart DiffuserTM, was launched for sale on its website in mid-December 2018.

Nano-Lit is currently working on a research project in partnership with Simon Fraser University and BC Hydro, monitoring sleep cycles in a seniors’ facility using Nano-Lit’s Smart DiffuserTM. Nano-Lit began manufacturing its product right here in B.C. and is actively looking for office customers who are interested in improving the wellbeing, health, and productivity outcomes of their tenants.
