CETA BUSINESS FORUM: a new EU-Canada network

June 22-23, 2022 will see the first edition, in virtual format, of this networking event

Almost five years have passed since the historic Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) began, opening a new era of trade relations between the European Union (EU) and Canada.

The CETA Business Forum is a permanent networking and conference platform dedicated to strengthening business connections between the EU and Canada. The first event is scheduled for June 22-23, 2022, and will take place virtually, through a platform that will replicate an online trade show format, with conference rooms, booths and interactive services for participants. This event will be followed by subsequent in-person editions in the EU and Canada.

The CETA Business Forum is a chance to learn more about CETA, which already in these first years of provisional application has brought positive outcomes for trade between the EU and Canada. Utilization of the CETA tariff preferences for exports from Canada to the EU grew from 52% in 2018 to 57% in 2020 while the utilization of the same preferences for exports from the EU to Canada grew from 38% in 2018 to 56% in 2020. While positive, these statistics show there is room for growth.

The forum offers a unique networking opportunity for companies, professionals, start-ups, associations, institutions and universities from the EU and Canada.
