The Saikuz First Nation is a Dakelh community a short distance from the geographical centre of British Columbia. The name Saikuz is derived from the Dakelh (Carrier) word 'on the sand' and refers to the sandy soil upon which the main community is located. The main community, Reserve 1, is located on the east end of Nulki Lake on Tachick Lake, 14 km south of Vanderhoof, BC.
