Brazilian Tech Company Drawn to British Columbia

A Brazilian software development company has found the ideal location for expanding its operations – in Victoria, British Columbia. Founded in 2004, Daitan serves a global client base from multiple locations, including Campinas, Brazil and San Ramon, California. Now, the company has established its Canadian headquarters and North American engineering and operations Center of Excellence in Victoria, one of the many growing technology hubs in British Columbia.

Daitan provides custom software development services to leading global technology companies. The company specializes in architecture design and software development of complex systems. Its engineers bring expertise in a wide range of technologies to solve complex problems in secure communication, data engineering, security, internet of things (IoT), cloud and virtualization, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and analytics. Recognized by Great Place to Work® for seven consecutive years as one of the top 20 organizations to work for, Daitan is a values-driven, growing software development company.

In 2017, Daitan began searching for a Canadian office location, choosing Victoria due to its proximity to the U.S., high quality of life, strong technology sector and excellent post-secondary institutions.

Provincial trade and investment staff worked collaboratively with the South Island Prosperity Partnership to ensure that Daitan had all the local and provincial connections they needed to get their facilities up and running quickly. The company is beginning operations in Victoria with 11 employees and is actively recruiting for additional positions now, with plans to grow to over 100 people in the next few years.

CBRE Canada ranks Victoria among the top cities for Canadian technology talent and the 2018 Scoring Canadian Tech Talent Report ranked Victoria 10th. The report ranks Canadian cities according to their competitive advantages and appeal to workers and technology employers.
