IMW Helps Build Clean Technology Infrastructure in China
In August 2013, British Columbia company IMW signed a one billion RMB (US $167 million) equipment purchase agreement with China Gas to supply up to 416 natural gas compressors and related technologies for the construction of up to 310 natural gas stations in China over the next three years. This is in addition to the 124 stations IMW has already equipped for China Gas in recent years.

“IMW is the world leader in natural gas vehicle compression technologies and the ideal strategic partner for China Gas as we continue to meet the growing transportation needs of our customers in an environmentally sustainable manner.” said Mr. Liu Ming Hui, executive chairman, managing director and president of China Gas Holdings.
“China has grasped the potential of natural gas as an alternative to gasoline and diesel fuel and is aggressively building the necessary infrastructure to realize this potential,” said Andrew J. Littlefair, president and CEO of IMW’s parent company, Clean Energy Fuels Corp.
This latest agreement was supported by the ongoing assistance of British Columbia’s Guangzhou Trade and Investment Representative Office team, who have been working with IMW to grow their business in China since 2009, and by Export Development Canada who provided financing to China Gas to purchase the natural gas equipment.
IMW was founded in 1912 to manufacture industrial equipment for companies in British Columbia and around the world. It began working with natural gas compression systems in 1984, rapidly becoming a leading supplier to vehicle fleet operators and industrial users with gas-fired power plants. Today, as part of British Columbia’s growing clean energy sector, IMW’s ISO-certified manufacturing facilities are helping the province maintain and develop its position at the forefront of the world’s clean energy revolution.
