The company has indeed achieved success on a global scale. WhiteWater’s designs and products can be found in venues around the world including waterparks in China, Egypt, Europe, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. Recent installations include Lotte Ginhae Waterpark Korea, housed in the world’s largest indoor theme park; Asia’s largest waterpark, Chime Long Waterpark, in British Columbia’s sister province of Guangdong, China; Happy Magic Water Cube in Beijing, China’s second most popular tourist attraction after the Great Wall; and the world’s largest wavepools at Sunway Lagoon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
British Columbia’s Trade and Investment Representatives in China and the Ministry of International Trade’s Vancouver-based team have been working with WhiteWater West to help grow their international business since 2009. Most recently, the Province’s Guangzhou office provided in-market support and facilitated meetings between Whitewater West and Chime Long Group, helping the company secure a deal to provide additional products and services for an expansion of Chime Long Waterpark.
The company was founded in 1980 by CEO & President Geoff Chutter, a young and entrepreneurial chartered accountant who saw an opportunity to enter into the newly-developing waterpark industry - first as a park owner and then as a developer of waterpark attractions. Today, WhiteWater specializes in the planning and designing of waterparks, and the manufacturing of waterslides, multi-level play structures, wave-generating equipment and much more, including “dry” play systems designed and manufactured by the company’s WhiteWater Attractions subsidiary.
Chutter attributes much of WhiteWater’s success to the company’s dedication to constant innovation. “Our rich history of cultivating strategic partnerships and developing exceptional products has advanced WhiteWater as a global leader in the waterpark industry,” said Chutter.
This successful British Columbian exporter has signalled its intention to make even more of a splash in the Asia-Pacific region. WhiteWater’s Shanghai office, which originally opened in 2011, was expanded in June of 2014 to accommodate more clients, partners and employees.
