B.C.’s Edge Computing Company Goes Global

British Columbia’s (B.C.) dynamic information and communications technology (ICT) sector is at the forefront of global innovation, driven by growth and a commitment to breakthrough advancements. In today’s fast-paced tech landscape, industry events like the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, a prestigious annual trade show for the mobile communications industry, serve as critical platforms for innovation, networking and global expansion.

At this year’s MWC in Barcelona, B.C. companies had an exceptional opportunity to showcase their innovations and connect with potential partners. Among them was Green Edge Computing Corp. (GECCO), making its debut appearance with support from the Trade and Invest British Columbia team. The team helps local companies expand internationally by providing strategic guidance, in-market expertise and access to global networks. GECCO’s participation not only marked an important step in its growth but also led to the formation of a promising strategic partnership poised to shape its future in the global ICT space.

Founded in 2021, with offices located in Vancouver and Victoria, B.C., GECCO is a rising innovator in the field of edge computing. The company designs compact, energy-efficient and durable computer systems built to operate in challenging environments. As a leading Canadian manufacturer, GECCO’s solution makes it possible for businesses to manage important data for technologies like AI, 5G wireless and Internet of Things (IoT), by combining on-site computing capability with cloud-based systems technology.

Central to GECCO’s product line is the “EdgePod”, which is a robust, space-efficient appliance that combines data collection, processing, storage and networking into a single, secure and environmentally friendly unit for industry. By reducing energy consumption by up to 75% compared to traditional IT equipment used in typical data centres, and by minimizing electronic waste, the EdgePod contributes to a more sustainable technology ecosystem.

GECCO’s solutions serve a broad spectrum of industries, including infrastructure, industrial automation, renewal generation, power distribution, manufacturing, commercial, retail, telecom and wireless services, defense and aerospace. Each deployment can be customized to meet specific sector requirements, providing powerful and sustainable computing capabilities at the edge.

In March 2025, GECCO made their inaugural appearance in the B.C. pavilion at MWC Barcelona. During the event, the company engaged with potential partners and end users interested in its cutting-edge technology. The exhibition proved to be a pivotal opportunity, ultimately leading to a strategic partnership with Digital Smart Group (DSG), a prominent Spanish channel partner.

Founded in 2018 and based in Barcelona, DSG empowers organizations that rely on critical infrastructure by providing innovative solutions, expert consultancy and seamless system integration.  Through this new partnership, DSG will introduce GECCO’s EdgePod appliances to the European market, addressing the growing demand for efficient edge data processing across various sectors.

This collaboration highlights a shared vision to delivering effective and sustainable edge computing solutions tailored to the evolving needs of European enterprises. GECCO’s successful entry into the European market was supported by Trade and Invest BC, whose guidance enabled the company’s participation in MWC 2025 and helped build valuable connections throughout the region.

Participating at MWC 2025 through the B.C. pavilion was a key achievement in GECCO’s international expansion strategy, reinforcing its dedication to the European market and strengthening its partnership with DSG. The event provided valuable insights into regional opportunities, allowing the company to assess market interest, engage with prospective clients and lay the groundwork for sustained global growth.
