Global Stage for B.C. Aerospace

Summary:

How is British Columbia expanding its international aerospace footprint?

British Columbia (B.C.) is advancing its aerospace sector by spotlighting innovative companies at the 2026 Singapore Airshow, building international partnerships, and supporting export growth and long‑term market development across the Asia‑Pacific region.

  • B.C.has a competitive aerospace sector with expertise in advanced manufacturing, maintenance and support, space and defence‑adjacent technologies.
  • At the 2026 Singapore Airshow, B.C. companies engaged international buyers and partners through the Canada Pavilion as exhibitors and trade visitors.
  • With support from Trade and Invest BC, participation focused on partnerships, market development, and export growth in the Asia‑Pacific region.

British Columbia (B.C.) is home to a strong and diverse aerospace sector with proven export capabilities and a track record of innovation and global technology leadership. The province is a national leader in high-value sub-sectors such as in-service and support, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and space. This strength is supported by an industrial base that spans advanced manufacturing, training, defence and security. With a highly skilled workforce distributed across key regions of the province, B.C.’s aerospace industry is well positioned to compete globally and grow its footprint in international markets.

The 2026 Singapore Airshow provided an important platform for B.C. companies to connect with international partners and strengthen their presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The Singapore Airshow is one of the world’s leading aerospace and defence exhibitions, bringing together industry leaders, governments and military officials to build partnerships, exchange ideas and address shared challenges shaping the future of aviation.

The 2026 event, held from February 3 to 6, attracted more than 65,000 trade attendees from over 136 countries and regions, including 16 country pavilions. B.C. participated in Singapore Airshow 2026 with five companies exhibiting within the B.C. space in the Canada Pavilion, while an additional five companies attended as trade visitors as part of the federal delegation. Together, these companies represented a broad cross section of the province’s aerospace and advanced technology ecosystem.

B.C. Companies Showcase Innovation on the Global Stage

Ten B.C. companies participated in the 2026 Singapore Airshow, representing strengths in aerospace components, communications systems, space technology, advanced mission solutions and specialized equipment for global markets.

This year’s participating companies included:

Five of these companies exhibited within the B.C. booth in the Canada Pavilion, including AEM, EmergCo, MDA Space, SEI and SKYTRAC. Several participants were returning exhibitors, reflecting continued engagement in the region and growing momentum in the Asia Pacific aerospace market.

Building on Strong Results from Previous Engagement

B.C.’s participation in Singapore Airshow 2026 builds on strong results from previous editions of the event. At the 2024 Singapore Airshow, B.C. companies participated in the Canada Pavilion alongside other provinces, showcasing the province’s strengths in aerospace innovation, advanced manufacturing and supply chain capabilities.

Companies recorded meaningful outcomes during the 2024 event, including SKYTRAC’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with VietJet, a Vietnamese low-cost airline, as well as strong engagement by Vancouver-based, Indigenous-owned MBS Tech Services, a cybersecurity company specializing in the protection of corporate assets, intellectual property and data. These outcomes helped lay the foundation for continued participation and long-term market development in the region.

Supporting Export Growth in the Asia Pacific Market

Held every two years, the Singapore Airshow provides B.C. companies with a valuable platform to connect with key decision makers, showcase their solutions and pursue commercial opportunities in a high-potential market. The Asia Pacific region continues to see strong growth in aviation demand, creating opportunities across commercial aviation, maintenance and support services, advanced technologies and defence- adjacent sectors.

Ahead of the exhibition, participating companies took part in a structured pre-show program designed to support market readiness. This included an industry briefing focused on regional aerospace market conditions and procurement priorities, site visits that provided insight into Tier-1 OEM supply chain expectations, and a networking reception that introduced B.C. companies to regional buyers, MRO operators and government procurement officials.

During the four-day event, B.C. Trade and Investment Representatives (TIRs) provided on-the-ground support to help companies maximize their participation. This included direct support to exhibitors in the B.C. booth within the Canada Pavilion, facilitating introductions and enabling business-to-business meetings with regional buyers, government delegations and industry partners. A dedicated networking event further supported outcomes by helping participants establish and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders across the region.
