Region:  Thompson/Okanagan

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is in southern British Columbia.  It is one of 28 regional districts in BC.  The boundaries of regional districts are vast - the RDOS spans 10,414 square kilometers. South to the US border, adjacent to the U.S. state of Washington, west from the Coquihalla Highway 5, east of Skaha Lake and north of Peachland. Regional Districts are modeled as a federation of municipalities and electoral areas.  The RDOS encompasses 8 electoral areas and 6 municipalities. At the 2011 census the population was 80,742.  The administrative office is in the City of Penticton.
